Topic: The one hand button config List (all consoles)

I have only my right hand to use when gaming, i have a ps3 and there are not many games that allow the button config i need to be able to play them.

I figured that we could use this thread to list the games that are playable (allow complete button remap) on the ps3 (and also other systems)

The list so far:

Ps3: Resistance: fall of man (see post #3)
       Colin McRae Dirt

Ps2: Gran Turismo (entire series, also PSone and on Ps3) (see post #3)
       Shadow of the Collosus
       Star Wars: Battlefront II

Xbox: Star Wars: Battlefront II

Xbox360: Quake 4
The Orange Box(5 games in one and they all
              allow customized controls)

Gamecube: Star Wars: Battlefront II

Dreamcast: Pro-Pinball Trilogy (see post #8)

Please list any games that you have tried and work with one hand, I will keep updating the list in this post as games are added.

Thanks to zaaaxbys and OneSwitch.org.uk for their contributions to the list

Re: The one hand button config List (all consoles)

Great idea.

However, when you say "allow complete button remap" do you really mean that?

For instance - with Gran Turismo - could I map accellerate and brake to up and down on the D-pad - with steering handled by left and right, also on the D-pad? I'd be pleasantly surprised if so? Be good if you could clear this up.

Re: The one hand button config List (all consoles)

basicaly yes, on Gt i use the right d-pad (thumb) for streering and r1(index) and r2(middle) to accelerate and brake, for use with automatc gearbox. Manual gearbox i use r1 (brake, middle) r2 (accelerate, ring) and triangle and square (index) to gear up and down. (reverse and handbrake on circle and x.

On resitance fall of man i use this setting, i am still testing to see if i can find a better setting as i am not completely satisfied yet. (i lay the controller down on my right leg)

L2: voice chat
L1: action/meele

up: next grenade
right: light
down:prev grenade
left: find partner

left stick: look
L3:toggle zoom

right stick: move
R3: crouch

R2: weapon select
R1: reload

Triangle: use grenade
Cirlce: Alt.fire
X: primare fire
square: jump

All these (well most anyways) are interchangable, meaning that i could i.e. fire with the up button if i wanted to.

I am from Norway so please excuse my not always very good english

Re: The one hand button config List (all consoles)

Excellent!

Re: The one hand button config List (all consoles)

OMG I LOVE THIS IDEA!!!!

I have been looking for a list of games that allow customized controls, but cant find one.

i'll try updating this list as much as i can, but so far all i have is 3

The Orange Box(5 games in one and they all allow customized controls)
Shadow of the Collosus
Star Wars: Battlefront II

I wish that game developers would realize how much easier it would be for disabled gamers(and regular gamers) if they took a little extra time to put in a customize control option into their games

Thanks! Great that you have an interest in this post. Tell your friends!

What system are these games for?

Re: The one hand button config List (all consoles)

Pro-Pinball Trilogy for Dreamcast - allows for multiple-buttons to be assigned to a single control. Great for one button play (one button can work both left and right flipper, and the plunger).

By the way - have you seen the following:

The plan is to take these lists to as many developers of these types of games as possilble. If you can help - please do! We need reconfigurable controls!

Re: The one hand button config List (all consoles)

Xbox 360 - The Orange Box(5 games in one and they all allow customized controls)
PS2 - Shadow of the Collosus
PS2, Xbox, Gamecube - Star Wars: Battlefront II

I dont have a PS3 yet, but i might get one now that i know Resistance: FoM has customized controls :)

In my opinion the ps3 is well worth the money as a blu-ray player alone. the gaming function was an added bonus for me, if it hadn't been for the fact that Resistance:FoM was budled with the unit, i never would have started playing video games again. (haven't really tried that much since my accident)

I actually sendt a mail to insomiac (makers of Resistance:FoM) thanking them for allowing reconfiguration of the buttons. This is the response i got

Hi there,

Thanks so much for your note! We're glad the options have allowed you to
enjoy the game!

Thanks again for writing us, we appreciate it!
Insomniac Games

There are also a few games that are playable (one hand) on the ps3, using the sixaxis control (moving the controller itself, like Wii). i.e. Motorstorm, Skate and others. These games do not offer button reconfiguration and are therefore not included on the list.

Re: The one hand button config List (all consoles)

Woohoo, found another game that allows button reconfiguration...

Xbox 360: Quake 4

Just started playing it today and it's really fun. Figured I'd take a break and post the new info =P

Oh and pesnp, you might want to change the title of this thread to "Games with Reconfigurable Controls List" because it took me a few to find it and i eventualy found it by looking for your name lol

EDIT: Merry Christmas

Re: The one hand button config List (all consoles)

Merry christmas

and thanks for the updade! I don't seem to be able to change the title, I completely agree with you. Your suggestion is far better. Perhaps a moderator can change it?

Re: The one hand button config List (all consoles)

You know maybe all of us should collaborate on a letter to be sent to Game Developers?

I wonder under european DDA laws whether we could approach sony to provide OS level remapping of buttons - that way all PS3 games would have the ability to be remapped

I've just got a ps3 40gb and i'm fuming - ratchet and clank, motor storm both have fixed config that dont support (easy )single handed play

lets keep this thread going - perhaps set a thread for each platform?

Re: The one hand button config List (all consoles)

Thanks for the input. I've been testing alot of games over christmas and unfortunately i have nothing to add to the list. However i can say that Ratchet and Clank is definately playable for me, (using my right hand), However this game does not allow button remap.

Os level reconfiguration would be great, or maybe just a box that switches the singals going from the controller to the ps3?

I've just about got the hang of MotorStorm using motion sensing on the sixaxis, and now i've found the boost button (i dont read manuals!) i might get higher than 14th (out of 15)

So:

PS3: Motorstorm - not remappable but definately playable
Ratchet and Clank - not remappable but playable with the controler on the floor (not sure what'll happen in later stages though when the going gets tough)

I'm going to join a game rental service so i'll keep posting

Re: The one hand button config List (all consoles)

I'm Hemipligic so only use right hand to play on my consoles.  I  own PS3, 360, Wii, DS Lite & PC.

Games that I can cope with are as follows  (one handed)

Resi Evil : umbrella cronicles (Wii)
Ghost Squad : Wii
Zack & Wiki : Wii
Motorstorm : ps3
Fifa 08 : ps3
Simpsons : Ps3
EoJ : ps3
Paper Mario : wii
Carnival Games : wii
PGR4 : 360
CM DIRT : 360
Test Drive Unlimited : 360
Mario & sonic at olympic games : wii
Endless ocean : wii
Excite truck : wii
Monkey Ball : wii
Kororinpa : wii
Wing Island : wii
Big brain acadamy : wii
Mini desktop racing : wii
Cooking mama : wii
Bust a move : wii

I'm sure there are loads more but I hope this list help anyone.

I'm also looking to find other games that only require one hand to play  (I hold the 360/ps3 controller on my thigh at an angle to combat most buttons)

Re: The one hand button config List (all consoles)

Thanks alot for the update. I'll add them to the first post at a later point in time.

Update: Added Colin Mcrae Dirt, controls are completely reconfigurable, basically same setup options as Gran Turismo series.

Re: The one hand button config List (all consoles)

nice list I'm buying Gran Turismo just to test it out!  thank you!
