Last friday, the 4th of december we’ve had our first ‘eSports’ tournament! With 4 people including some Accessibility staff it turned out to be more of a fun LAN party(still online) instead of a real tournament 😉 Everyone was present at 09:00 sharp and that’s when we started to play some games. Anthony, Enzo, Janneke and Paul all had a certain kind of disability which is not really mentionable since they all kicked my *** with every single game…
We started with the game Mario Kart on the GameCube. Since it was lagging a bit, it was even harder to play because the response came a bit too late. However, these games still prove to be fun and for everyone easy to play, even with one arm for example. The fact that you can play this game with 4 people makes it even better.
LoL & CS:GO
The next games we’ve played were League of Legends and Counter Strike: GO. Actually we’ve been playing League of Legends for almost all day, since it was fun and everybody knew how to play it. No problems actually when you have a disability, like one arm for example. If you can use the mouse you’re good to go!
I haven’t played LoL before and found out it was quite hard in the beginning, especially when you get owned all the time by the other gamers in the room. In the end I got the hang of it but Paul was the boss in this game.
However, we could not have played during this event without the hard- and software support from Cooler Master. They provided us with the equipment needed and the water-cooled computers also made the temperature quite comforting.
We had some issues with people attending the event. However, we held this event on purpose on a friday to see if that would really give us problems. When organizing something like this, the next time we will take into account the factor that students need to go to school on weekdays and organize it during the weekend.
